Below are the awards with their deeds of gift and a history of all the recipients of the awards.
The Everitt Bowl is awarded each season to an outstanding junior sailor in the Bellport Bay Yacht Club summer series. To separate junior sailors from the PHRF boats that dominated competition in the Monday and Thursday evening series, a Wednesday evening series for juniors was added to the club schedule in 1996. John Everitt donated the trophy in memory of his mother, Eleanor Cromwell Field Everitt, nicknamed “Billie” to commemorate the special role that mothers play in support of their children who race. As a teen, “Billie” competed in club races. After marriage to Ted Everitt, she supported him and their two children in all their racing activity. John’s mother won a parent’s race, and she and Ted swept the series in the Beatle Cat that young John complained was slow when he sailed!

Since 1972, recipients of the Commodore Paul Bigelow Memorial Award are outstanding individuals, who have shown great sportsmanship and devoted great energy and time to Bellport Bay Yacht Club over a period of years. Officers and Trustees of the club determine the outstanding member whose significant devotion to BBYC maintains and promotes sailing and racing the club. The award originated on September 25, 1960, when on his 97th and final birthday, Paul Bigelow presented binoculars to the Officers of the Club for a “Sailor of the Year Award”, with the stipulation that it be awarded to an outstanding Bellport sailor who competed in a class of at least 6 boats and in at least 6 races. At a May 7, 1961 meeting, the Board of Trustees intended to continue it as an annual award and appointed a committee to design and have cast a bronze sculpted plaque as a memorial to Paul Bigelow in appreciation of his outstanding sportsmanship and devotion to sailing on Great South Bay for a period of more than 50 years. During his life, 1893-1961, Bigelow served as Commodore of the Club from 1924 to 1926 and again from 1933 to 1936. He raced Bee the P Class boat, Pauline an R Class boat, Kittery an AA Class boat, and Gadget and Aim, both Star Class boats. Haste Redall, Commodore at the time, chaired the committee and worked with members Theodore T. Everitt, Robert B. Lea, William Hanaway, and Dr. Merrill N. Foote to dedicate the plaque in 1961.

Bill Earle, son of Mr. and Mrs. William P. Earle, was regarded as a fine junior sailor and generous competitor in the CC Class. After Bill died in an automobile accident while returning to Princeton as a student in 1935, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew M. Underhill and many of Bill’s friends donated a commemorative bronze plaque to the yacht club for Bellport Bay Yacht Club Junior Champions and their crew names to be engraved each year, retroactively to 1929. Subsequently the BBYC Midget Champions names were added to the plaque. These fine young sailors advanced to represent the yacht club at the GSBYRA Junior or Midget Championships.
The Underhill Cup is awarded each season to the outstanding midget skipper, who represents BBYC with the best record at either the single-handed GSBYRA Orr Championship or the crewed GSBYRA Picken Midget Championship.

As a tribute to her mother Emily Rich Underhill, Nancy Underhill Meade, donated a trophy won by Emily Rich Underhill in with the request that it become a perpetual trophy dedicated to honor a female sailor for her love of sailing, her dedication and enthusiasm promoting the continuance of tradition, sailing and racing at the club, and for honorably representing Bellport Bay Yacht Club as a skipper or crew. In 2007 the Officers and Trustees of the club accepted the trophy, engaged Charlie Flagg to build a base for plates, and decided to honor Nancy as its first recipient as the image of the enthusiastic and elderly Nancy Meade clambering atop the club roof to watch a huge Optimist event remained indelible in the minds of the officers and trustees. For the first time in her long life, Nancy was speechless as she accepted the award!
